Art Gallery of South Australia

The need for strictly controlled humidity and temperature was a major objective for the Art Gallery of South Australia. SMAC’s patented twin-coil system air conditioning was installed in August 2004.
The reduced variation in humidity and temperature achieved perfect climate harmony.

Since its successful installation performance of the system has been monitored by specialist mechanical engineers.

SMAC technologies also used their innovative computer modelling system to track energy consumption, temperature and humidity.  The gallery has reported an overall 30% gas consumption reduction a real success story given the system was only installed in  33% of the building.

An international exhibition was being held at the time of installation. A tailor made by pass loop was developed for the existing unit.  This assisted in minimising disruption paramount for the Gallery (consider including photo- refer brite website case study only available in PDF)

“The harmonious climate is an important feature as it reduces humidity and balances temperature which assists in the preservation of the existing art work and is a key determinant when procuring international exhibitions and new works.”
